Our host Osbin was very warm, welcoming, and quick with the service. The food was prepared fresh, and the noodles were especially good. Overall, a very pleasant experience at Xi Bei Cuisine in downtown Princeton. Thank you!

The wood ear mushroom salad and XiBei beef noodle soup was absolutely amazing. The staff was extremely nice and had my food out very fast. The portion size is great for the price point! 10/10 experience!

Really enjoyed our lunch here! It’s not easy to find good Northwestern Chinese food around Princeton, so we were excited to try this place. The flavors were really authentic and everything we ordered was tasty and well seasoned. The portions were generous, and the food came out fresh and hot. We especially enjoyed the noodles and the lamb dishes — definitely the kind of food that makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. The location is also very convenient if you’re already walking around downtown Princeton. Overall, a great spot if you’re craving authentic Chinese food with bold flavors. We’ll definitely be back!

I feel really disappointed to write this because I thought overall the food tasted good, but there were issues and discrepancies that I feel like outweighed the positive. First, the rice was stale and dry. It tasted like it had been sitting out. I understand sometimes in restaurants you have to make a big batch of rice for the day but I feel like if you notice the texture becoming brittle it’s time to make new rice. The main issue was the mapo tofu. The flavor was great although it was kind of mild (I was told it was quite spicy ) but that’s not really a problem. What was was that it was advertised as having meat in it. I understand different restaurants have different ways to cook dishes, but the issue wasn’t the dish itself but rather the representation of the dish in the menu versus what we actually got. I don’t think it’s fair to put an image of a dish like the one below and then serve a dish with no meat in it. Originally we thought we had received the vegetarian version and were told the meat is “just for flavor” and that there were small pieces of beef. In total there were maybe 7 grains of ground beef that I ate in the entire dish. Again, the issue isn’t the way the dish w

Full disclosure: I visited XiBei Cuisine as a food photographer shooting content for Grubhub, so my meal was complimentary. That said, the free food in no way influenced my honest taste buds or this review—the flavors here genuinely stand out! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance felt warm and welcoming. The space is inviting and well-designed, with a cozy yet open vibe that's perfect for dining in downtown Princeton. Owner Lily and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and attentive—they greeted every customer with genuine smiles and helpful gestures, making everyone feel right at home. I had the chance to try a variety of dishes after the shoot, and I was absolutely blown away. The food was bursting with authentic Northwest Chinese flavors—bold, comforting, and so incredibly tasty. Everything was well-seasoned, fresh, and clearly made with care. If you're craving something beyond the usual Chinese takeout, this spot delivers on taste and hospitality.
